About us
The Collaborative Research Centre CRC 1294 “Data Assimilation – The seamless integration of data and models” develops solutions and mathematical theories for assimilating time-dependent data sets into complex evolution models. Data assimilation constitutes a rapidly expanding field of research at the confluence of mathematics, statistics, and machine learning, on the one hand, and applications from the natural sciences and other disciplines. The CRC 1294 offers an excellent research infrastructure with a large interdisciplinary network of researchers, its own graduate school, and funding opportunities for conference attendance, summer schools, hosting international experts, etc.
Your responsibility
Research in the field of statistics of stochastic partial differential equations (SPDE), in particular stochastic reaction diffusion systems, applications to statistical inference on data from intracellular reaction-diffusion kinetics, in project A01 "Statistics for SPDEs" within the CRC 1294 Data Assimilation (see http://www.uni-potsdam.de/de/sfb1294.html).
PhD thesis preparation is possible.
More information can be obtained from Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Stannat (stannat@math.tu-berlin.de).
Your profile
- Successfully completed university degree (Master's, Diploma, or equivalent) in mathematics or closely related disciplines
- Solid knowledge in Stochastic Analysis
- Good German and/or English skills required; willingness to acquire the necessary language skills
- Additional knowledge of the theory of partial differential equations or nonlinear evolution equations are desirable
How to apply
Please submit your written application, quoting the reference number, along with the usual documents (in particular, a brief letter of motivation, a complete and up-to-date CV, and copies of any theses), preferably in English and as a PDF document, to stannat@math.tu-berlin.de. We also require two letters of recommendation, which applicants are responsible for ensuring are received by the application deadline.
By submitting your application via email you consent to having your data electronically processed and saved. Please note that we do not provide a guaranty for the protection of your personal data when submitted as unprotected file. Please find our data protection notice acc. DSGVO (General Data Protection Regulation) at the TU staff department homepage: https://www.abt2-t.tu-berlin.de/menue/themen_a_z/datenschutzerklaerung/.
To ensure equal opportunities between women and men, applications by women with the required qualifications are explicitly desired. Qualified individuals with disabilities will be favored. The TU Berlin values the diversity of its members and is committed to the goals of equal opportunities. Applications from people of all nationalities and with a migration background are very welcome.
