Rese­arch Assist­ant - salary grade E13 TV-L Ber­liner Hoch­schu­len

under the reserve that funds are gran­ted; part-time employ­ment may be pos­sible

Work­ing field:

  • Eval­u­ation of geo­lo­gical, geo­phys­ical, hydro­lo­gical and hydro­geo­lo­gical inform­a­tion in the catch­ment area of the Spree Laus­itz to cre­ate a hydro­geo­lo­gical concept model
  • Large-scale cal­cu­la­tion of ground­wa­ter recharge
  • Cre­ation of a ground­wa­ter model that takes into account aquifer gen­esis and paleo-hydro­logy
  • Con­duct­ing field exper­i­ments, such as tracer exper­i­ments, pump­ing exper­i­ments, push-pull exper­i­ments in the field, and install­a­tion of meas­ur­ing devices in bore­holes and sur­face waters
  • Con­tact­ing regional stake­hold­ers in Lusa­tia, such as LEAG, LBMV, LfU, MLUK
  • Super­vi­sion of qual­i­fy­ing theses (BSc and MSc) in the con­text of the pro­ject object­ives

Require­ments:

  • suc­cess­fully com­pleted uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) in geo­tech­no­logy or a com­par­able engin­eer­ing degree with emphasis on hydro­geo­logy and engin­eer­ing geo­logy
  • Know­ledge of the regional geo­logy of Branden­burg and meth­ods of geo­lo­gical map­ping
  • Know­ledge in the devel­op­ment of mod­els that included the form­a­tion of geo­lo­gical sys­tems
  • Exper­i­ence in con­duct­ing hydro­geo­lo­gical and hydro­chem­ical field exper­i­ments
  • good com­mand of Ger­man and/or Eng­lish required; will­ing­ness to learn either Eng­lish or Ger­man is expec­ted

Addi­tional skills:
  • Exper­i­ence in numer­ical mod­el­ing with emphasis on ground­wa­ter flow
  • Good know­ledge of geo­s­tat­ist­ical meth­ods
  • Good abil­ity in the use of script­ing lan­guages such as Python
  • Exper­i­ence in super­vising BSc and MSc thesis
  • Exper­i­ence in inter­ac­tion with local author­it­ies in the water sec­tion
