Work­ing field:

Pro­ject work in the BMBF-fun­ded pro­ject „Ana­lysis of SANS Data of Com­plex Struc­tured Soft Mat­ter Sys­tems“. Within this pro­ject the struc­ture of com­plexes of copoly­mers and deter­gents in solu­tion will be stud­ied, the solvent being either water or DES (Deep Eutectic Solvents). Firstly, the phase beha­viour of the sys­tems must be char­ac­ter­ised exactly. Sub­sequently, the sys­tems will be pre-char­ac­ter­ised by means of static and dynamic light scat­ter­ing (SLS, DLS). The detailed struc­ture determ­in­a­tion will then be done by a com­bin­a­tion of small-angle (neut­ron and X-ray) scat­ter­ing (SANS; SAXS). The tar­get is the cor­rel­a­tion between the molecu­lar topo­logy of the com­plexes and their nano­met­ric struc­ture.


Suc­cess­fully com­pleted uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) in chem­istry, phys­ics or related sub­jects; excel­lent grades desired. Com­pre­hens­ive know­ledge in phys­ical and syn­thetic chem­istry and famili­ar­ity with the char­ac­ter­isa­tion of nano­struc­tured sys­tems in solu­tion are required. Con­sid­er­able know­ledge of the prop­er­ties of DES and deter­gents as well as instru­mental work­ing tech­niques are desir­able. Good com­mand of Ger­man and/or Eng­lish is required; will­ing­ness to learn either Eng­lish or Ger­man is expec­ted.
