Work­ing field:

Con­trib­ut­ing to a research pro­ject con­cern­ing dis­en­gage­ment/de-rad­ic­al­isa­tion pro­cesses of Islam­ist extrem­ists
In this gov­ern­ment fun­ded research pro­ject, we will stand­ard­ise and ana­lyse data col­lec­ted from coun­sel­lors in the field of Coun­ter­ing Viol­ent Extrem­ism (CVE) regard­ing devel­op­mental tra­ject­or­ies of former Islam­ists. As a mem­ber of the research team at the Centre for Tech­no­logy and Soci­ety's depart­ment of Secur­ity - Risk - Crim­in­o­logy, the research asso­ci­ate's duties include devel­op­ing a sur­vey instru­ment in con­sulta­tion with prac­ti­tion­ers as well as con­duct­ing the actual sur­vey amongst prac­ti­tion­ers.

Require­ments:

  • Suc­cess­fully com­pleted aca­demic uni­versity stud­ies (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) prefer­ably in the field of social sci­ences, law, crim­in­o­logy, soci­ology or psy­cho­logy
  • pre­vi­ous know­ledge about extrem­ism's phe­nom­ena and/or know­ledge of about bio­graph­ical research in the social sci­ences
  • If pos­sible, famili­ar­ity with the field of coun­ter­ing and pre­vent­ing viol­ent extrem­ism (P/CVE)
  • Abil­ity to work in a team, with a pro­ject-ori­ented atti­tude and out­stand­ing com­mu­nic­at­ive and social skills
  • flu­ently writ­ten and spoken Ger­man lan­guage pro­fi­ciency is man­dat­ory
