The holder of the position has the opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary, international team, focusing on health systems, health services research, health economics and health technology assessment. Working in the field of health care management will provide the optimal conditions to develop expertise in health service research and health economics. The work can be combined with a doctorate degree and other advanced studies.
The Department of Health Care Management is looking for support for a pilot of the health system performance assessment (HSPA) of the German health care system. The health services research project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Health and is supported by an advisory board of stakeholders and institutions of the German health care systems (for instance the Robert Koch- Institute) that is supporting the project team in gaining access to data and consequent data evaluation.
Specifically, the main tasks of the position holder will include the following:
Literature research of national and international HSPA-initiatives
Evaluation and empirical analysis of national data along a standardized set of indicators for the German HSPA (for more information please consult the feasibility study on the German HSPA under Röttger J; Spranger A; Eckhardt H; Achstetter K; Busse R, 2019: Ergebnisbericht der Machbarkeitsstudie zur Messung der Leistungsfähigkeit)
Help and co-management of project meetings
Publishing project results in international scientific journals
Successfully completed university degree (Diplom, Master or equivalent) in a project relevant discipline such as medicine, Public Health, statistics, epidemiology, social sciences or economics is required
Very good knowledge of German and English is necessary
Basic knowledge of statistical methods and related software packages (Stata, SAS, SPSS, or R) is necessary as well as the willingness to advance this knowledge
Experiences in analyzing secondary health care data, or survey data in the German health care system is necessary
Interest in related questions around HSPA and the systematic evaluation of performance of a health system is necessary
A secure and self-confident style of communication with our project partners is necessary.
Beyond these enlisted requirements, the further skills are advantageous:
Working experience in one of the relevant institutions of the German health care system (for instance Robert Koch-Institute; sickness funds, KBV etc.)
Experiences with international institutions that are dealing with HSPA and related research questions such as OECD, Eurostat or WHO
Experience in writing scientific publications
