Full Pro­fess­or­ship in Eco­no­met­rics

Work­ing field:

The pro­fess­or­ship is to rep­res­ent the field of eco­no­met­rics in teach­ing and research. The suc­cess­ful can­did­ate should have an out­stand­ing inter­na­tional record of pub­lic­a­tion and research in the field of eco­no­met­rics.

In teach­ing the appointee is expec­ted to con­trib­ute to the bach­elor, mas­ter and PhD pro­grams of the School of Busi­ness and Eco­nom­ics. This includes the teach­ing of core and elect­ive courses in the respect­ive pro­grams (in Ger­man and Eng­lish) as well as the act­ive sup­port and pro­mo­tion of young aca­dem­ics.

The School of Busi­ness and Eco­nom­ics attaches great import­ance to ped­ago­gical com­mit­ment and act­ive par­ti­cip­a­tion in the acquis­i­tion of third-party funds. A capa­city for inter­dis­cip­lin­ary cooper­a­tion and net­work­ing as well as a will­ing­ness to engage in aca­demic self-man­age­ment are expec­ted. In addi­tion to the duties estab­lished in Sec­tion 99 of the Ber­liner Higher Edu­ca­tion Act (Ber­lHG), applic­ants are expec­ted to have the abil­ity to lead staff and pro­mot­ing young aca­dem­ics.


The applic­ants must meet the legal require­ments for pro­fes­sional appoint­ment in accord­ance with § 100 of the Ber­liner Hoch­schul­ge­setz (Ber­lHG). The will­ing­ness to acquire any miss­ing know­ledge of the Ger­man lan­guage within a reas­on­able period of time (approx. 3 years) is expec­ted.

How to ap­ply:

HU is seek­ing to increase the pro­por­tion of women in research and teach­ing, and spe­cific­ally encour­ages qual­i­fied female schol­ars to apply. Research­ers from abroad are wel­come to apply. Severely dis­abled applic­ants with equi­val­ent qual­i­fic­a­tions will be given pref­er­en­tial con­sid­er­a­tion. People with an immig­ra­tion back­ground are spe­cific­ally encour­aged to apply.
