part-time employment may be possible

Working field:

The Process Dynamics and Operations Group is looking for a new colleague / PostDoc for participation in research and teaching, as well as the independent management of a research group for fluid process engineering with close connection to methods for modeling of flow and mass transfer phenomena in fluid flows, CFD, respectively direct numerical simulation.
Specific tasks within the project are:
  • Independent conduction of the course Thermische Grundoperationen as well as substitute lecturing of courses for the head of department
  • Supervision of theses (Bachelor, Master) and active support and supervision of PhD students
  • Independent application for research grants and attraction of research projects (also industrial collaborations)
  • Initiation and supervision of research projects in fields such as: mass and heat transfer and gas liquid interfaces; liquid and gas flows over structured surfaces, fluid dynamics and separation efficiency in rotating separators
  • Management and further development of a research group in the department

Our chair is based in chemical engineering, but candidates from other engineering disciplines or backgrounds are always welcome. Regarding the described position, we are interested in colleagues with the following qualifications and interests:

  • Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) and excellently completed PhD in fluid process engineering, chemical engineering, fluid mechanics, multiphase flows or similar is expected
  • First experience in research areas related to multiphase flows, CFD, direct numerical simulation, modeling and simulation of energy, impulse and mass transfer and fluid phase interfaces (verification via, e.g., publications in related international journals)
  • Knowledge on phase-field-model would be beneficial
  • Verification of international experience, such as stays abroad, international workshops and conference attendance
