Research Assistant - salary grade E 13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen

under the reserve that funds are granted - part-time employment may be possible

Working field:

Statistical inference and logic reasoning are becoming readily available for data processing pipelines in connected vehicles, traffic surveillance and the Web of Things. While statistical inference uses learning techniques for generating or grouping data points to classes or models under symbolic values, logic reasoning addresses the manipulation of symbolic values interlinked via logical axioms, e.g., knowledge graphs. The Department of Open Distributed Systems (ODS) is dedicated in combining these scientific to build distributed processing workflows, for example, combining computer vision tasks such as object detection, semantic segmentation image/visual/video scene understanding with knowledge graphs and logic reasoners.
Currently, we are looking for a scientist to work and research on exciting scientific questions around “Distributed Stream Reasoning”. The successful candidate will conduct research in an interesting and inspiring group.
The opportunity for PhD is given.

Requirements:

  • Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in computer science, applied mathematics, statistics, or similar subjects with excellent results
  • Very good language and writing skills in English
  • Good German language skills is an advantage
  • Knowledge and Publications in one or some of following areas:
1. Distributed Database Systems/ Graph Database
2. Logic Reasoning (Datalog, Answer Set Programming)
3. (RDF/Semantic) Data Stream Processing
4. Semantic Web
5. Internet of Things, Robotics
6. Computer Vision and Machine Learning
  • Very good programming skills in Java or C++
  • Interested in challenging scientific issues and motivation for independent and focused research.

How to apply:

Please send your application with the reference number and the usual documents (in particular cover letter, an academic CV and the names of two references) with the subject “job application” preferably by email to sekretariat@ods.tu-berlin.de or in writing to Technische Universität Berlin - Der Präsident - Fakultät IV, Institut für Telekommunikationssysteme, FG Open Distributed Systems, Prof. Dr. Hauswirth, Sekr. HFT 3, Einsteinufer 25, 10587 Berlin.

To ensure equal opportunities between women and men, applications by women with the required qualifications are explicitly desired. Qualified individuals with disabilities will be favored. The TU Berlin values the diversity of its members and is committed to the goals of equal opportunities.

Please send copies only. Original documents will not be returned.
