Work­ing field:

This is a sci­entific pos­i­tion in the chair of Inter­net of Things for Smart Build­ings. In par­tic­u­lar, this includes work­ing on a pro­ject fun­ded by the Invest­i­tions­bank Ber­lin (IBB) in cooper­a­tion with a large indus­trial part­ner and sev­eral research insti­tu­tions on the field of smart experts via arti­fi­cial intel­li­gence. Inde­pend­ent research work is to be car­ried out in the fields of dynamic mod­el­ing, machine learn­ing, numer­ical optim­iz­a­tion, expert sys­tems and related areas. This research work includes the devel­op­ment of new meth­od­o­lo­gical approaches to deal with dif­fer­ent sources of inform­a­tion and large amounts of data, as well as their imple­ment­a­tion and dis­sem­in­a­tion in sci­entific pub­lic­a­tions. The pos­i­tion includes the option to pre­pare a PhD thesis in the men­tioned research areas.


  • Suc­cess­fully com­pleted uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) in Engin­eer­ing or Com­puter Sci­ence with a focus on auto­ma­tion, con­trol, numer­ical optim­iz­a­tion, machine learn­ing or related areas
  • Exper­i­ence in at least two of the research areas: numer­ical optim­iz­a­tion, arti­fi­cial intel­li­gence, machine learn­ing & deep learn­ing, auto­matic con­trol
  • Exper­i­ence in mod­el­ing of dynamic sys­tems or decision sup­port sys­tems
  • Good pro­gram­ming skills and exper­i­ence in devel­op­ing sim­u­la­tion stud­ies and man­aging large data sets

Addi­tional Require­ments:
  • Pas­sion for new tech­no­lo­gies and devel­op­ment of open source code
  • Excel­lent organ­iz­a­tional and com­mu­nic­a­tion skills
  • Very good writ­ten and oral lan­guage skills in Eng­lish (at least C1) and Ger­man (at least B2)
  • Will­ing­ness to con­duct inter­dis­cip­lin­ary research
