Rese­arch Assist­ant - salary grade E 13 TV-L Ber­liner Hoch­schu­len

Work­ing field:

The rese­arch of the PhD can­did­ate will aim at devel­op­ing innov­at­ive machine learn­ing tech­niques (with a spe­cial focus on deep learn­ing) for the ana­lysis of big data from space.
The main top­ics include:
1) devel­op­ing deep neural net­work mod­els that can over­come the data imbal­ance prob­lems for satel­lite image clas­si­fic­a­tion;
2) integ­ra­tion of the crowd­sourced data (e.g., open street map tags) wit­hin deep neural net­work mod­els for the extrac­tion of image seman­tic inform­a­tion;
3) devel­op­ing act­ive learn­ing meth­ods that are app­lic­able to the desi­gned deep neural net­works.

Require­ments:

  • Suc­cess­fully com­pleted uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) in Com­puter Sci­ence or Com­puter Engin­eer­ing
  • Expri­ence in machine learn­ing, data min­ing, deep learn­ing
  • Solid pro­gram­ming skills
  • Good exper­i­ence with at least one deep learn­ing frame­work (tensor­flow, caffe, pyt­orch)
  • Excel­lent Eng­lish oral and writ­ten com­mu­nic­a­tion skills; good com­mand of Ger­man is required; will­ing­ness to extend the Ger­man lan­guage skills
