Within the Insti­tute of Energy Tech­no­logy of the TU Ber­lin, the Energy Sys­tems Depart­ment per­forms inter­dis­cip­lin­ary tasks and deals with the com­plex inter­ac­tions between tech­no­logy, polit­ics, soci­ety and the energy mar­kets. These activ­it­ies include, in par­tic­u­lar, the ana­lysis of energy and envir­on­mental policy frame­works and mar­ket design, stud­ies on energy poverty, access to energy and devel­op­ment in the global South, energy eco­nomic innov­a­tions and their sys­tem integ­ra­tion as well as the con­sid­er­a­tion of social aspects of energy trans­form­a­tion. Work­ing field:

Par­ti­cip­a­tion in the pro­ject “Wind­NODE” – show­cas­ing smart energy sys­tems from North­east­ern Ger­many” (fun­ded by the Fed­eral Min­istry of Eco­nomic Affairs and Energy). The pro­ject aims to find new solu­tions for intel­li­gent energy sys­tems with a high renew­able pen­et­ra­tion. The pro­ject’s aims are described by so called “value pro­pos­i­tions” in the fields of flex­ib­il­ity and inter­con­nectiv­ity of mod­ern energy sys­tems as well as energy related com­mu­nic­a­tion and dis­sem­in­a­tion. The con­crete task of the pos­i­tion to be filled relates to the sci­entific mon­it­or­ing of the Wind­NODE value pro­pos­i­tions. Here the can­did­ate will determ­ine crit­ical suc­cess factors, derive recom­mend­a­tions for suc­cess­ful achieve­ment of object­ives and eval­u­ate pos­sible sys­temic impacts. In addi­tion, sci­en­tific­ally sound ad-hoc ana­lyses for new devel­op­ments in the energy industry shall be sup­por­ted (e.g. digit­iz­a­tion in energy sys­tem trans­form­a­tion and power-to-gas applic­a­tions) and made avail­able to the pub­lic in sci­entific form. In addi­tion, points of con­tact between the energy sys­tem trans­form­a­tion and soci­ety will be accom­pan­ied within inter­cul­tural engage­ments.


  • Suc­cess­fully com­pleted uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) in engin­eer­ing or eco­nom­ics with a focus on energy tech­no­logy or energy eco­nom­ics with above-aver­age suc­cesses
  • Prior know­ledge in the above-men­tioned areas of work is required
  • Very good know­ledge of cur­rent energy policy and energy industry frame­work con­di­tions
  • Sound pro­gram­ming know­ledge (e.g. Python, Mat­lab or R)
  • Very good writ­ten and spoken Ger­man and Eng­lish skills
  • Pre­vi­ous know­ledge in pro­ject man­age­ment and exper­i­ence in writ­ing sci­entific pub­lic­a­tions are wel­come
