Within the Institute of Energy Technology of the TU Berlin, the Energy Systems Department performs interdisciplinary tasks and deals with the complex interactions between technology, politics, society and the energy markets. These activities include, in particular, the analysis of energy and environmental policy frameworks and market design, studies on energy poverty, access to energy and development in the global South, energy economic innovations and their system integration as well as the consideration of social aspects of energy transformation. Participation in the project “WindNODE” – showcasing smart energy systems from Northeastern Germany” (funded by the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy). The project aims to find new solutions for intelligent energy systems with a high renewable penetration. The project’s aims are described by so called “value propositions” in the fields of flexibility and interconnectivity of modern energy systems as well as energy related communication and dissemination. The concrete task of the position to be filled relates to the scientific monitoring of the WindNODE value propositions. Here the candidate will determine critical success factors, derive recommendations for successful achievement of objectives and evaluate possible systemic impacts. In addition, scientifically sound ad-hoc analyses for new developments in the energy industry shall be supported (e.g. digitization in energy system transformation and power-to-gas applications) and made available to the public in scientific form. In addition, points of contact between the energy system transformation and society will be accompanied within intercultural engagements.
Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in engineering or economics with a focus on energy technology or energy economics with above-average successes
Prior knowledge in the above-mentioned areas of work is required
Very good knowledge of current energy policy and energy industry framework conditions
Sound programming knowledge (e.g. Python, Matlab or R)
Very good written and spoken German and English skills
Previous knowledge in project management and experience in writing scientific publications are welcome
