The AV depart­ment is loo­king for a Rese­arch Assi­stant for the Lin­ked Data Ser­vices for Mobi­lity (LIMBO) pro­ject.
In par­ti­cu­lar, LIMBO is a Bun­des­mi­nis­te­rium für Wirt­schaft (BMWi)-fun­ded inno­va­tion pro­ject that aims to deve­lop a secure, robust and real-time capa­ble solu­tion for the manu­fac­tu­ring indus­try.
For this pur­pose, a cor­re­spon­ding com­mu­ni­ca­tion refe­rence archi­tec­ture will be deve­lo­ped for future indus­try 4.0 app­li­ca­ti­ons, using key tech­no­lo­gies from the fields of 5G, multi-access edge com­pu­ting (MEC), cloud com­pu­ting, vir­tua­li­za­tion, and indus­trial moni­to­ring and ana­ly­tics, and put in prac­tice in various demons­tra­tors among the indus­trial part­ners.

Work­ing field:

The Research Assist­ant is respons­ible for sup­port­ing the exist­ing team in imple­ment­a­tion and trans­fer­ring the exper­i­ence to the lar­ger research frame­work of the Indus­trial Inter­net of Things (IIoT). We sup­port the can­did­ate to use the res­ults gained within the pro­ject for the pre­par­a­tion of a PhD thesis.

Require­ments:

  • Suc­cess­fully com­pleted uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) in Com­puter Sci­ence or equi­val­ent
  • Very good know­ledge of Ger­man
  • Being a team player
  • Solid found­a­tions of com­puter sci­ence and good net­work skills (TCP/IP)
  • Basics in hand­ling Linux-Shell
  • Good pro­gram­ming exper­i­ence (espe­cially Python)
  • Basics in sci­entific work and writ­ing
  • Good know­ledge in Semantic-Web-Tech­no­lo­gies and Linked Open Data
Fur­ther, exper­i­ence in one or more of the fol­low­ing areas are of advant­age:
  • Pro­ject man­age­ment and guid­ance of stu­dents
  • Indus­trial field­buses (e.g. PROFINET) and wire­less tech­no­lo­gies (e.g. LoRa, NB-IoT, Zig­Bee)
  • Sensor net­works / M2M / IoT and rel­ev­ant stand­ards (e.g. HTTP, MQTT, AMQP, Web­Sock­ets, CoAP) and mid­dle­ware archi­tec­tures (e.g. OPC UA or oneM2M)
  • Pro­gram­mab­il­ity of infra­struc­tures / microservices (e.g. Docker, Kuber­netes, Mesos, unik­er­nels)
  • Secur­ity mech­an­isms (e.g. SSL, OAuth, OpenID, PKI)
  • Real-time sys­tems (e.g. IEEE TSN, RTLinux)
  • good Eng­lish know­ledge desired
